Organizations within JIRA Software

Danielle Mather

I currently have all of my organizations set up in a ServiceDesk Project. Is there a way to get these organizations to show up as options to pick in a Software project? I've added the field but no matter what I try to put in there it says it isn't valid. We are on JIRA Cloud.

Hi Danielle,

Organizations are ONLY for Service Desk projects.  So they won't ever be displayed in a software project.

Well that would have been nice to know since there are a ton of articles out there about how it can be shared across all of jira. Bummer. Any solutions on how to categorize then requests coming in automatically by a department?

@Danielle Mather

Do you have any examples of those articles? They could be misleading, so would be good to see them.

In our organization we use a user property to tag issues coming in by department/office.  You can still use this jql on any reporter:

Reporter in organizationMembersof("name of org")

And that will work across projects.

Hope that helps

Susan
