Opening Work Item in Sidebar resets the sidebar width

Kevin Mario
August 3, 2026

I used to be able to open the sidebar, set a width ( by dragging the left side of the sidebar ) and get the width to persist when opening another work item.

Now when I switch to a new work item, the width resets and I find myself always having to set the sidebar width to be able to see the fields that I need to see to respond to the ticket.

Am I the only one having this issue?

I can't seem to find any new settings that relates to this, and I'm pretty sure this behaviour is fairly new as I remember 2 weeks ago I was still able to persist the sidebar width.

Hello @Kevin Mario

Hope you're doing well!

I checked this on two browsers (Chrome and Edge) and found no issues. Please try clearing your browsers' cache and cookies as Marc suggested

Thanks!

Just in case my explanation wasn't clear enough, it's this one on the right

Hi @Kevin Mario

Welcome to the community.

I can't reproduce this, my sidebar with stays the same, try another browser or incognito window.

If this functions normal, clear your cache and cookies.

Hi Marc,

I just tried in incognito ( Chrome ), still have the same issue unfortunately 🤔

FYI I noticed the issue initially on Firefox, so I thought it could be a browser thing. Having tried in Chrome Incognito and experiencing the same issue, it looks like the issue is browser agnostic.

Hi @Kevin Mario

I don't have the issue.

I see this s in a JSM space in a queue and using the "open work in sidebar" option in an isssue.

I have tried this in Chrome and FF, but field with stays the same.

Are you on the latest browser version, as it is something with the browser, not the application.

I have tried it in multiple Atlassian instances I manage and I can't reproduce this. even switching to different queues keep the with the same.

@Marc -Devoteam- @Lalithesh Channu  thank you for your replies.

I have:

  • Cleared my cache ( & cookies )
  • Logged out of Atlassian
  • Logged in on 2 different browsers ( Firefox & Chrome - latest builds )

Yet I still encounter the issue as specified above, unfortunately

@Marc -Devoteam- @Lalithesh Channu found the culprit.

On the cookie acceptance dialog on the top of the site, I chose "Only necessary" instead of "Accept All"

Clearing cookies & choosing "Accept All" now fixed the issue.
