Making a Jira Plan via API

I'm looking to create a Jira Plan and add existing issues using the API, but I don't see anything about plans on the API page. Has anyone done this before or can provide guidance on how to achieve this?

Good news: there is a dedicated Plan resource! 

Even if it is marked experimental, we used "experimental" and "beta" API endpoints with success in the past.
