Hi everyone 👋

I’ve been spending more time learning about IT Service Management with Atlassian, and I’m particularly interested in understanding how teams move beyond the basic “service desk + tickets” setup toward a more mature and connected ITSM practice.

There is a lot of great documentation available, but I’m especially interested in real-world experience from people who have implemented, administered, or evolved JSM in production environments.

I’d love to learn from the community:

  • What does a well-designed JSM/ITSM environment look like in practice?
  • Which capabilities have made the biggest difference for your teams?
  • What processes did you automate, and what did you deliberately keep manual?
  • How do you approach incident management from detection through resolution and post-incident learning?
  • How do you connect operational data, services, assets, and work items to give agents better context?
  • What are some good approaches for handling integrations with external systems and keeping information synchronized?
  • How are teams using AI and automation in real ITSM workflows today?
  • What does a good reporting and metrics setup look like for IT leadership and service teams?
  • How do you approach SLAs, queues, prioritization, and service quality as the environment grows?
  • Have you extended JSM beyond traditional IT into areas such as HR, Finance, Legal, Facilities, or other business teams?
  • What are some implementation decisions you would definitely repeat?
  • And just as importantly, what would you do differently if you were starting again?

I’m also interested in resources beyond the standard documentation  community posts, architecture examples, implementation guides, templates, learning paths, videos, customer stories, or practical walkthroughs that you’ve personally found useful.

If you’ve worked on a mature JSM implementation, I’d really appreciate anything you’re willing to share  even if it’s just one practice, lesson, or resource that you think more people should know about.

Thanks in advance! 🙌

I’m looking forward to learning from the community and discovering how others are approaching ITSM with Atlassian.
