project = abc and created < startofmonth() and created >= startofmonth(-1)

To supplement what @Jack Brickey stated, you can use the JQL above and export the issues into CSV for Excel to further diced/sliced to generate your report.

In addition, you can also save the JQL as a saved filter where you can reuse it again.
