I work with 3 developers that use Jira and their UI is almost completely different than mine. For example, in their backlog when they click on a ticket item, a modal is brought up displaying the details. On my backlog I get a type of flyout from the right that displays the information.
I wouldn't have a problem with this except I cant update the status of the ticket from that detail view. I need the modal style to make this work.
EDIT
This is not the backlog but the details menu that shows up on the right is the same menu that shows up in the backlog as well. Other devs have modal pop up.
It might be associated w/ "Jira Labs"? Click on profile icon > settings > see if Jira labs is enable for you or them.
Toggled Jira Labs on and off, cleared cache and restarted browser. Still see the same thing unfortunately.

Woah, weird... Now its working. Not sure why there was such a long delay in seeing the change especially since I cleared cache.
Either way, this solved it. Thanks a lot I was ready to bash my computer monitor in from the annoyance.

Wait I'm an idiot. I was expecting modal in backlog so I didn't notice the change right away. My bad.

so to be clear you are saying what you see in your board's detail view is the same w/ Labs off or on? This certainly should not be the case. can you provide a screenshot of what the others are seeing assuming the image you provided is from your view? Note be sure that we are talking about the same project not different projects. Different project templates can effect what you see. Specifically, you mention a modal pop up - this is for sure the behavior if the project is using the Agility template.

Hello,
Are you sure that when they click in the backlog a modal is brought up? For me a model is brought up in the active sprint interface only.

See screenshots please. I didn't realize I could post images.

No I'm an idiot. You are correct. The backlog does not bring up a modal. My frustration was getting the best of me.
