I want to know how a form is beneficial other than the below option wrt request types
- Forms provide dynamic feature that enables to provide optional conditions to include multiple sections. I guess request type does not provide this functionality? However forms are added to a request type to leverage the advantages of forms.
Welcome to the community!
These are a few:
- The other benefit is that you can allow customers to edit their tickets which cannot be done with old way unless you were using a plugin.
- No need to create annoying custom fields that would be used in only one form, thus you can create request types much faster without the need of a sys admin
- Allows you to connect external data sources too: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/add-or-unlink-a-data-connection-from-a-form/
Thanks,
Fabian

Welcome to the community. In addition to what Fabian mentioned, here are a few more:
1) You can create user friendly FORM setup where give the you the ability to use it for issue creation rather than only using the Portal Request setup. (Example You can tailor your fields in a form of questions in the FORM configuration.
2) You can even capture user inputs where some of their inputs may not be mapped to the actual issue's fields. You can set it up to attach the FORM as a pdf file when the FORM is used for issue creation.
3) Dynamic FORM elements controls Example if a FORM element is set as X, then display another setup of FORM elements.
4) System admins rights are not needed. Users only need to be the project's Administrators role member to create/manage FORM setup.
Hope this also helps.
Best, Joseph
