Jira SD - how can I merge two or more separate issue types into one?

TL;DR - When we started using Jira SD, we set up two slightly different request types. We've since come to realise that just one issue type would be more beneficial (both issue types have exactly the same fields and workflow).

So - can we merge them so that all the different tickets for both issues just appear as one?

Hi Graham,

I am assuming you are an Admin user? What you could do, is filter for the Issue type you want to "merge" and then bulk edit them (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracoreserver073/editing-multiple-issues-at-the-same-time-861257342.html) and change the issue type.

make sure you disable an email update for this (it's a tickbox in the bulkediting process)

otherwise a lot of users will get updates about this.

After that make sure you delete the issue type form the issues type scheme for this project otherwise users might create new issue types of the one you just tried to get rid of.

Hope this helps, cheers

Merle
