JSD and Google email - blocked sign in from Google occasionally

I run JSD 3.16.5 at the moment. Every so often (once a week or once every few weeks) Google emails the service desk email account to say that the sign in attempt was blocked. The text reads:

Someone used your password to try and sign in from a non-Google app. Google blocked them.

I have "access to less secure apps" enabled on the account and as I understand that is all that is required. I have raised this with Google and they are saying that the app is not compatible with Google. In my mind, both are speaking IMAP so that shouldnt be possible, unless something else is occurring which I am unaware.

I wanted to ask the community here if anyone is using Gmail with their JSD and are you getting any notifications like this? When Google sends the email, JSD is raising the ticket in the system. So at this point, I do not see any real issue but I am concerned that if I do nothing then in the future, we will miss or have delayed communications via email through JSD.

I have had JSD running since around 2016 and just since about July 2019 we are getting these "sign in blocked" notifications. I believe around July was when we upgraded JSD to the version which it is now running - `3.16.5`.
