JIRA - Migration Server > Cloud

Shiva Kumar August 20, 2018

Hi,

We are currently self hosted Jira in our own AWS server. We have total aroun 180 users will daily concurrently uses the application on daily basis. Some times users reporting Jira is very slow due to high memory consumption occupying more than 98%. So work around when we bounce back the server the memory consumption will get stable and again it spikes up very often. We are thinking to migrate to new high end good configuration EC2 server. Before migrate we need to test in lower environment server and if all works fine want to migrate it to actual prod server. So will the same license work for the lower environment?

Or else let me know in the existing server how to fix the performance issues currently we are facing it.

User: 180

Server Details:

t2.large 2 vCPU 8 Memory GB RAM

Hi Shiva,

You can use the same license on another server if you decommission or disable the original server.

Otherwise, you could get an evaluation license and test with that.

Regarding your performance issues, it requires logs in order to fully understand what is causing the issue. If you'd like to proceed in troubleshooting that, please let me know and I can create a support ticket for you so we can obtain your logs.

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

Thank you for the update. The logs looks good did not see any errors or exceptions only users usage is getting increase and reporting the issue for example when they are trying to import/export the data getting hang and taking a while and other usages. If required i can share the logs but which is in huge size it is located in the server. In the previous note is existing server configuration looks ok or is it really need to migrate to new server and if so let me share the best server configuration? If we resolve performance issues may really not required to migrate or let me know your suggestions. Is it possible to discuss with your team in an formal meeting so that I can scheduled it?

Shiva,

It's not a problem to share large log files in our support system. Let me go ahead and create the ticket now for you, and someone will reach out to you.

When they do you can discuss the possibility of a screenshare or call.

Keep an eye out now in your email for the ticket number.

Shannon
