Hello! I am having an issue and hope you all can help me.

I am currently migrating work items in Service Management. My only option is to import them via the Filter function > Import CSV file.

I can successfully map all the fields except for the Request Type. Whenever I import, the work item is being loaded to the first Request Type, which is the General Service / Email Channel.

I've seen some comments suggesting that I should include the Request Type ID in the CSV. However, I tried this and failed because:

  1. I cannot find the Request Type ID or Request Type in the field mapping options.

  2. When I try to upload the file without mapping the Request Type, the data is still being uploaded to the wrong type.

Hi @Gee Espiritu , welcome to the Community!

You can get the Request Type by going to Project settings > Request Management > Request types > Service Requests (or whichever work type category your request types are located in), then hover your cursor over a request type. The URL will appear at the bottom of your browser window, and the Request Type ID will be a number close to the end of that path. For example:

You'll have to do that for each Request Type you want to import. Post back and let us know if using that works!

Hi @Susan Waldrip

I got the Request Type ID, but the dilemma now is that when I import a new work item, I still cannot map the work item to the request type. It is being defaulted to the first request type in my project.

Thanks for your comment, by the way!

OK, a couple of things:

  • Would you please post a screenshot of your mapping screen?
  • Did you remove the Request Type (name) data from your CSV so only the Request Type IDs are included?
  • Just to verify, if you had saved an import configuration (mapping) file, did you re-save it after adding the Request Type ID?
  • Are you getting any errors during the import process?
