Is there any changes in mandatory checkbox fields for 11.3.x

Environment: Atlassian Data Center (Jira Service Management 11.3.x 

In the asset, a mandatory checkbox field is used to indicate whether the item is in production or not. I’m able to create a new object without setting anything in that field, but if I first set a value there and then try to remove it, I get an error saying the field must be filled out. I thought the value used to default to false when it wasn’t checked — or am I remembering wrong?

Actually that function is quite Bugged.
