In Issue filter page for filtering the data, is the Update button mandatory or optional in 9.12.7?

In the issue filter page when we are filtering data based on project, issues type, status in jira-8.5.17 when we used to click on the respective checkbox of selected filter, the table data used to get refreshed. Whereas, in Jira-9.12.7 I do see we need to click on update button after selecting option.  So, is that mandatory in Jira-9.12.7 or do we have any solution to hide the button and load table data on checking the checkbox.

When you update you criteria filters, you need to click on the Search button to validate you result.

Can you imagine all the refresh and server activities which can occurs in term of performance if each time you change an option filters data gets refreshed immediate .
