Is there a way to import an xlsx format file into JIRA ?

No, the only format you can import with is the CSV. I am curious why do you want to import the xlsx format?

Hi @pvadapally Welcome to the community.
Jira does not support xlsx files, you can convert them to csv and then you can import it.
At the top header, click on filters> view all issues> click on three dots and select import issues from csv.
