I cannot "Watch an issue"

Peter November 16, 2018

Hi, in my previous jobs I could follow issue changes by "Watch"ing an issue. There was the eye symbol visible in the upper right corner of an issue.

Currently Jira tells me via permission helper, that I do have access to "Watch" and even "Manage Watchers" to an issue, still I cannot find out how.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @Peter,

Just need to confirm a couple of things;

  1. Does the project have the correct permissions set up?
  2. Does the Jira instance have the correct global permissions?

Thanks

Hi Danny,

thanks for your feedback:

1) I think the Jira Project has the correct permissions. Here I have checked withe the permission helper:

- "peter.herbert@wonderline.eu has the 'View Voters and Watchers' permission"

- peter.herbert@wonderline.eu has the 'Manage Watchers' permission

2) Global permissions:

- Not sure, I believe all are the default settings, as the company just started using Jira. However, if I have the Project permission, and JIRA confirms that I have the permission, why I cannot see the "Watch" feature / icon?

Thanks

Hi @Peter,

Could you navigate to Jira Settings > System > General Configuration.

Within that page should be an option to allow user to watch issues.

Please check that option has been set to on.

Thanks
