I was recently hit with a vulnerability remediation request from our security team for Jira Service Management. They are asking to use meta tags vs the robots.txt file that is in place today. Does anyone tired this? Does anyone have any good articles that explain this?
Can you provide more details on your ask? What robots.txt are you referring to?
Once we have your updates, we can further assist of your ask.

I only know of the one robots.txt file that comes with a JSM data center install, located in the Jira file structure.

Have you review the documentation on robots.txt? Here is a link - https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/using-robots-txt-to-hide-from-search-engines-938847717.html
Lastly, which Atlassian's vulnerability remediation request are you referring to?
Best, Joseph
