How to create a project that is only visible to a group?

Simon Singh April 9, 2018

Hi,

We have several clients, and I'm trying to create a Service Desk project for each, so they can only access their own project (and have no visibility of the other projects). I'm using the Cloud version, and have read several posts in the Community, but none seem to be for the latest version. Can anyone advise on recommended steps please?

You simply need to ensure your customers only appear on their project. When you creat a project you add customers to the project.

check the documentation on Atlassian’s site for setting up projects! I.e. getting started.

Jack, I've tried that - and cannot find a page that describes what I need to do.

Here is the Getting Started guide. I suggest you stand up two quick projects add a couple test customers to each and see what the can access/view.

Thanks Jack, I'm taking a look now - however:

I can't seem to see a link to Add a Customer in the interface. Is it in Settings somewhere?

you should see something like this...

Yes, I see it now - the project was created as a Software project (by default), and therefore the options above were not displayed. It might be useful to allow a user to select the project type when creating a new project.

I grudgingly accept this as best answer, despite the rather glib initial answer:

"check the documentation on Atlassian’s site for setting up projects!"

While creating a project, you should have the option to create a JSD/JSW/Core project. Unless you don't have a JSD installed then you won't have the option.
