How to copy comment from an issue to another issue in another project with the same username?

Ansu Sabu July 1, 2025

We have 2 projects. The issues in these projects are related. When a comment is made on one issue in one project, it should be copied to other issue on the other project and also the name of the user should be the same.

I have tried adding the automation for the comments. It is working fine. But the name of the user who commented comes as the same of the one who created the automation rule

Hi @Ansu Sabu

See this KB article to sync comments.

https://support.atlassian.com/automation/kb/automation-rule-to-sync-field-and-comments/

If you want this to be the same user, then the user triggering the automation should be set to the user triggering the rule, but this will mean that the users needs to be an agent on both projects.

I'm not sure if that will comment as the same user, you will have to ry.

HI @Ansu Sabu

Set this in the rule details, you can set the actor to the "user who triggered the event".
