How to ajust the view of the result of a JQL to show each element in just one row?

avelazquez September 14, 2023

Hello Friends,

I'm new in this Project with Jira. I'd like to have helpers.

When I run the JQL and if some fields have a lot of text (for example "Comments") the ticket takes to many lines. I'd like to ajust the view so each ticket only appears in one line (row), like trimming the excess to fit every ticket in one row. And could be perfect once this done, when you hover the mouse to show all the text in that field.

Thanks in Advance.

Astor.

Unfortunately, using the JQL result page UI (advanced search), it is never a recommendation to include "Paragraph data type" field to be displayed.  Especially, comments (special system field) - If your issue has more then one comment, the field by default cannot even be included in the result column setup.

In our env, we have customization where we take the latest comment of issues and place it in a custom text field, so one can include it as a column in the results set display.

It is not possible using (out of the box) setup to achieve what you wanted.  Maybe there is an add-on that you can search for in Atlassian Marketplace that will give you that option.  I am not aware of any add-on at this moment.

Hope this helps.

Hello @Joseph Chung Yin

Thank you so much for your fast answer.

I'd like to have some like that in Jira management as I had before with our old ticketing system, I mean, in that system I was able to take a fast look at all my queue and when hovering on the last client comment a text window opened (like a hint) to see the whole comment.

Here img example: I hovered on "last note" of ticket 2 and the yellow windows expands with all the text:WebHelpDesk.jpg

Do you have a link to visit Atlassian Marketplace?

Thanks again!

Hi @avelazquez,

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I think you might really like the app that my team and I are working on: JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets.

Just like you described, JXL shows every issue in one row; multi-line values are "flattened" and trimmed according to the (configurable) column width, and the full value is shown when you hover over it. This is how this looks in action:

single-line-row.gif

JXL also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hello @Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira

I just want to try it; it looks like Wow!

How the is the price? As I see is free for less than 10 users?

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks!
