How to add all configuration of Project A to Project B in JIRA Service Management single instance

S Jena January 30, 2024

Hello Team,

We have created JIRA Service Management Project A with different groups, request types and customized workflow.

Can we copy the same request types with workflow to Project B.

Is their any way to add all configuration & data of Project A to Project B in JIRA Service Management?

Please guide me in the above issue.

Thanks

Swopna

Hello @S Jena ,

Yes there is an option like this.

When you create a project there is a checkbox "Share settings with an existing project". When you check this, you get the option to Choose project:

Thanks @Nikola Perisic  for the quick response.

Can we add the same in existing Project B?

Means I have Project B and i want to add Project A configuration in Project B.

Is their any option to merge in existing created project?

Yes, you can. do this with this option, as a pre-requisite Project A needs to be created so project B can inherit the settings from project A.

Hope it is more clear.

Yes and it may be easier to create a new project in this way, and then manually move all the issues from the old project to the new project. You can use CSV export/import for this. Again, it all comes down to your requirements. You might be able to get away with a few scheme changes. You just need to ask yourself what's really important here.

If you are using Company managed project then you should use the same schemes and field configurations. The other thing to consider is whether you can use one project.

Yes. However, depending on your exact goal and how different the projects are will dictate how much manual effort is required. For example, if you want to have the same workflows, issue types, request types, notifications schemes, permission schemes, automation, screens, fields, etc. I would refer you to the documentation. Here are a couple of links but again you need to really outline your goals and then research the docs.

To be clear, it is not "add the configuration", it is "change the schemes so that project A and B use the same schemes"
