Did you mean:

How do you reserve resources / book consultants!??

Apwide's #BeaverBooking showcase competition is super busy - Community's own ACE Austin Champion, Suze Treacy is a Jury member!! - and as I was laughing at Kit's entry (what a legend!) when I realised that there are very little booking apps on marketplace - https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=Resource%20Reservation - HOWEVER Jira and JSM are of course amazing tools to do this in.

I was wondering:

Do people use any of the Marketplace tools available for this activity, or Atlassian stack in anyway?

Based on my previous experiences in my Program / Project Manager (which was pre-AI era) it was always a heavily manual process of team planning vs capacity reviews.

EEK!

If you're not on the Atlassian stack for these types of activities, what are you doing?

And you get a free t-shirt for participating! I mean, it's a great deal if there is one.

Hi Andy,

I've explored resource booking options quite a lot, and I've seen many people using external tools - dedicated platforms like seatsufing, spreadsheets, shared calendars, or also tools like Calendly/HubSpot/Microsoft meeting schedulers.

It usually depends on:

  • The type of resource they book (equipment vs people)
  • The number of resources in the pool (just one, dozens, hundreds, thousands...)

I've also noticed that more and more people investing on the Atlassian Suite want to replace external booking/scheduling tools with Jira or JSM, which makes perfect sense IMHO (budget-wise and compliancy-wise).

Cheers,

David
