How do I set up where the workflow is when moving tickets from one type to another

IT Service Desk
March 27, 2018

we often get tickets raised as service requests that should be a change.

we then use the 'move' feature to move the ticket to a change request

the problem is if the job is 'in progress' as a service request, it then moves to the 'in progress' portion of the change workflow which skips out the approval process thereby nullifying the point of moving it to a change.

can anyone advise?

That will only happen if you are moving the issue to a new project as well as changing the type (If you move inside the same project and the workflows are the same, the status won't change, if they are different and the current status not in the new workflow, it will ask).

You should not be moving issues as a matter of course.  You're destroying the request a user made when you do this.  Try using "create and link" instead.
