How do I set up for external Customers to submit request?

Jason Orosco April 6, 2022

I am looking to set up an external customer support which will allow our customers to ask for help or a question?  I'm not sure if that is done by setting up an email OR can that be done with some type of Help button set up on their end.

Hi @Jason Orosco ,

You have several channel options to enter tickets/issues/requests to your JSM project.

  1. Email: you can set up an email channel which will take those incoming emails and convert them in to tickets (or comments on existing tickets)
  2. Portal: You can set up a project portal in the JSM project by creating Request Types and dividing them in to groups.
  3. Widget: here you can generate a piece of code which can be embedded on to a website which will basically be a "?" that pops up a little form that will direct to the same request types as on the portal
  4. API's: if you need something custom, you can always build something that uses the JSM REST API to create/update issues

If you use JSM customers, the good thing is that they will not be counting towards your license count as customers only have a limited view on their own raised issues from a portal.
