How do I set up a service desk for PTO requests?

I'm setting up a service desk for people to surface PTO requests through to their approving manager. Everything seems to be working as intended except for two parts that I'm hitting a wall on:

  1. I want an automatic workflow transition to occur when the request is approved.
  2. I want to create an automatic event on the Confluence calendar for the PTO request.

Does anyone know what steps are needed to set up these particular actions?

You'll probably want to explain "PTO" (It means "please turn over" to most people) if you want a detailed answer, but

1.  You will need an automation tool to do that

2.  You will need to do some coding to push an event over.  I'd use Scriptrunner to do it myself, mainly because I can get one of my colleagues to write the code.
