How do I resolve the automation user error after the automation user is removed from the project?

I can't change the user away from the removed user.

I figure I should be able to add myself as the automation user since these are my group memberships:

administrators

jira-administrators

jira-servicemanagement-users

site-admins

The problem was that the interface did not indicate the ability to type into the field.  Since the current user was already populated and the pulldown did not list anyone except the deleted user, I didn't think to type into an element which behaved like a locked field entry.  After typing into the field I was able to change the user.

did you "Delete" the user or just deactivate? if you deleted :-(. If you deactivated then reactivate, login as user and change it. Otherwise try copying the automation and seeing if you can set the user on it.
