How do I create custom project priority scoring?

Zach Goeppinger October 29, 2024

Hi there!

I'm looking to:

  • Create several categories
  • Each category has 4-5 text based options, each with a numerical assignment
  • The total of the categories get added up to establish the priority
  • The help seekers will start in JSM, then the score and choices need to port over to Jira to help establish priority amongst other projects.

Thanks!

Zach

Hi @Zach Goeppinger

This seems doable:

  • Create several categories -> Custom field for this
  • Each category has 4-5 text based options, each with a numerical assignment -> custom fiel type option or multi select
  • The total of the categories get added up to establish the priority -> added up means to sum the score? doable with automation.
  • The help seekers will start in JSM, then the score and choices need to port over to Jira to help establish priority amongst other projects. -> We need more info on this to better understand this part.

Regards

added up means to sum the score? Yes

We need more info on this to better understand this part.

Customers journey:

request goes into JSM for new update, idea, or change.  Customer then has to rank with a score of 1-5 in 4 categories.  That total helps determine the priority of the ask vs. others.  That total then needs to be able to be moved over to JIRA with the ticket to be prioritized as project sprint work.

@Zach Goeppinger -

Are you referring to JSM asks raised by customers (i.e. support request)?  Please provide more details on your meaning of categories + How did you configure the custom field "Priority Scoring"?

-Best, Joseph
