How do I change the Issue Type field to a dropdown?

Instead of having to Move an issue, it would be great to have the user change an Issue Type from a dropdown. I know this is possible because it has been set up in a different project, however the administrator of that project has now left the company, and I can't seem how to find how to change this behavior on Google or Atlassian's forums.

Hello,

The Issue Type field turns to a dropdown automatically, if there are at least two issue types for your project, which share the same configuration. As far as I remember it must be the same workflow.

I'll take a look tomorrow when I'm in the office. My project has four issue types, but I'm not sure if they share workflows.

The issue types must have the same field configuration and workflow.

Then you can put the "issue type" field on the edit screen to allow drop-down changes.
