How can I get a single user by displayName instead of a list of all users?

I use this to take the users list,

"https://your-domain.atlassian.net/rest/servicedeskapi/servicedesk/{serviceDeskId}/customer"

but I only need to get it with the right displayName, how do I form the query correctly?

What are you trying to do exactly in your process?  If you are trying to obtain user information based from some issue actions, then you can setup automation rule to obtain the single user display name for further process (i.e. if the you want to send custom email to the reporter and want to display the display name in the email body etc..)
