How can I create a status category?

Hi All,

I am into evaluating this product, got stuck someone please help!!

I have created SLA which starts when entered status is "Escalated" but not able to assign status as "Escalated" to  a Bug.

There are two separate questions here, but:

You would need to hack the core of Jira to add a new status category

Status is an indicator of where an issue is in its workflow.  To "assign a status", you move the issue through the workflow to the status.  Obviously, the workflow has to contain that status and the transitions that get you to it.

My guess would be that the current status of the issue you are looking at does not have a transition (that you can use - they can have conditions placed on them) to Escalated.  Or, possibly, the bug has a workflow that does not have that status.  Talk to your admins, they will be able to check

Thanks Nic my issue of not able to assign a status is resolved by this. However if you can guide me how to add this in workflow (don't know if that is possible in evaluation version).

Log in as an admin, go to the project and find the project settings.  They include the workflow(s) in use, which you can then edit.

Evaluations of Atlassian stuff are fully functional, just time limited.
