Hi Community,
I'm currently working on refining user permissions within Jira Service Management and would like to restrict access to the Automation tab for agents. The goal is to ensure that only administrators or specific roles can view or modify automation rules, while agents focus solely on their assigned tasks.
Is there a recommended way to hide or disable the Automation tab for non-admin users, particularly agents? I’ve reviewed permission schemes and roles, but I haven’t found a clear method to achieve this.
Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
HI @Pavan Kumar
I think the reference is made to the automation section on a work item, in the issue details, correct?
This section can't be made hidden, this is be design. This provides information to the agent to see which automations have ran on the work item and if they executed or not.
This is useful to trace if something has happened on a work item based on an automation rule or not if it should have been acted on by an automation.
Otherwise @Nikola Perisic is correct, agents should not be grant the administrator role on a project, but the Service Team role.
This will prevent them to be able to access to Project Settings of the project
Welcome @Pavan Kumar
The automation rules are available to the project administrators only by the default. That means that the service desk agents, do not have the access to automation part. If a user has both service desk agent and the administrator project role, then yes, they are able to access the automation as well.
