Hardware Object Schemes

Michelle Kirk November 12, 2025

Could someone please assist me on how I go about building this into Jira,   I have come from a Service Now background and never used Jira.

This is what I am looking at and whether this is feasible in Jira via the Object Schemes, as I am struggling to build these in our sandbox version and how it links to a parent

Any help would be appreciated or point to any documentation where this is detailed

Hi @Michelle Kirk

For this, you need to use the Assets functionality. This could be a useful starting point: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/service-management/product-guide/tips-and-tricks/assets-cloud-get-started#overview

After you finish building your CMDB and you populated it, it is possible to work with Objects in Jira. For this, you will need to create custom fields which have the "Assets" type: https://support.atlassian.com/assets/docs/set-up-the-assets-object-field/

Strictly referring to your example, I would see this done like this:

A general IT object schema -> Computer object type -> Attribute storing the type of the object (peripheral/hardware)
