On the Jira "Board" view, I get an error message when I try to move the column for Done to the extreme right end of the pipeline.
The error message is as follows:
Something's gone wrong
Some of your changes weren’t saved
An error occurred on our end, try to save your changes again. If it doesn’t work, refreshing the page should fix it, but your changes will be lost.
Refreshing the page doesn't give any actual help.
Rovo too couldn't provide any actual help with this.
I've checked the Workflow and the Done category is assigned to the status Done.
I have another column/status named Cancelled which also has the category Done and I want the tickets in Done status to be listed past that so that when I complete a sprint, all the tickets in Done status don't move to the next sprint. Right now Jira moves all tickets with Done status to next sprint and doesn't move the tickets with status Cancelled.
I don't want to move the tickets both with status Done and Cancelled to the next sprint.
Hi Vishal,
A couple of notes - first, you might want to try to clear cache. Also, since it sounds like you ae getting the error possibly when trying to drag the card to the last column, try opening the card and changing the the status to the appropriate status (e.g. Done).
More importantly, work items are not considered complete for a sprint in Jira unless the card is in the very last column to the far right. Meaning you cannot put the Cancelled status in a column past the Done column or the Sprint will never be able to be Closed.
Is there a reason to see the Cancelled status on the board? Most organizations will not have the Cancelled status associated with a column on the board and just allow the user to change the status to Cancelled directly on the card (like above). Hopefully, this is not happening very often after the Sprint starts because that means a lot of time is being wasted on work that will not be done.
HOWEVER, if you want to be able to close the sprint, even the Cancelled work items MUST be in the far right column. If you don't want that, then you need to take the Cancelled work items out of the sprint. Again, you really should not do that because it is a metric you would be losing. Your REALLY need to know how many work items are getting Cancelled during a Sprint.
Hi John,
Thanks for taking out time to look at my post.
Actually, I am not trying to move just a single card here. I am moving the entire column of cards with status "Done" to the extreme right.
For a regular sprint that my team works on, we have a very few tasks that get the status "Cancelled" and most of them get the status "Done".
I have assigned the category value "Done" to both the statuses in the Edit Workflow module in Jira.
Jira somehow now considers only the "Cancelled" status as "Done" for a card and doesn't move the tasks with status "Cancelled" to next sprint. Instead it moves the tasks that are marked "Done" or any other status. I then have to go and open each task in new sprint and remove the sprint value from that task after which the tasks get cleared from the board.
All I want is that Jira to consider tasks with status Cancelled or Done to be categorized under Done category and not move all such tasks to the next sprint when I complete a sprint.
FYI- I am currently using a free account in Jira, this is a company managed account provided to me by the client. I have the admin access but not the owner access.
Thanks again for the support man.

Then the Cancelled status has to be mapped to the same column as the Done status. It really doesn't matter what the status is or the status category - it just has to be in the very last column. You can map as many statuses as you need to for that column.
And you are welcome. :-)

I am getting the error as seen in attached screenshot whenever I try to move the column for "Done" to any position either in the left or right.
