We are looking to add to our change records in JSM a field that can either be a dropdown or selectable field. We need to create this option with a list of items but for those items we would like a to be able to hover over and it will give us the definition of the items that are displayed. We also need to be able to report on it, as to why we can't use Jira forms as the fields are not reportable. We have been told about Deviniti Dynamic Forms for Jira. Does anyone have experience using this? Or any other marketplace apps that could do this? It would be really great if we could do this inside of JSM without having to use a marketplace app.
Out of the box, you will need to create custom field (either Select List (Single choice) or Select List (Multiple choices) field type). Once created, assign it to your JSM project's issue type.
You can then associate Jira Form's element to the custom field. This type of implementation also gives you the ability to report on it. The only drawback will be there is no hovering ability on each select list's option on the option's definition.
In our environment, we create custom help-text for the custom field to list out each option's definition where users will see it during the issue creation/issue editing processes. In Jira Form, you can also add in the form's element to display all the options definitions - where when users filling out the form, he or she will see those definitions.
NOTE - the definition will not be available during the issue view screen in JSM.
Otherwise, you will need to acquired third party add-ons to give you the functionality. We have not have the need for them since the out of the box solutions work well in our envs.
Hope this helps.
Best, Joseph Chung Yin
