Does the AWS connector require JSM Premium to connect?

Melissa DeLong March 16, 2023

I have attempted to install the AWS connector to our JSM Cloud Standard version.   It appeared to do the setup correctly BUT the connection never synced any of the issues from AWS to our JSM project.  The set up looked like it happened but no sync.  I searched around for any documentation and found a blurb that said it requires JSM premium cloud to work.  Unfortunately I can't find that page again.  Is this true that it requires JSM Premium and where can I find any clarity on this?

@Melissa DeLong The connector uses the JSM API and should work on Standard or Premium.  There is nothing in the documentation from Atlassian that states Premium is required.  You need to make sure that everything is setup properly for it to work, check the documentation here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/connect-jira-service-management-cloud-to-aws-service-catalog/

Hi @Melissa DeLong ,

I had a quick glance at the app on the marketplace.

I don't see how a pricing plan for JSM would have an affect on a 3rd party app, couldn't find any reference of it in their documentation (from a quick search at least).

I'd recommend opening a support ticket with them describing the issue you're facing with issue syncing: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221283/aws-service-management-connector-for-jsm?tab=support&hosting=cloud

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

From the AWS documention they link to JSM Premium which leads me to believe it is not supported by JSM Standard.  I would assume Atlassian should be able to answer this question directly.  I'm assuming it has something to with the resource limits in JSM standard.

It shouldn't be anything to do with resource limits from what I understand, unless storage is a factor (250GB limit on Cloud Standard) or possibly incident creation through API which is only available on Premium onwards.

Atlassian may not be able to answer this question directly as its not an app that is developed by them but rather a 3rd party app by AWS.

The question is better directed to AWS support team to clarify the requirements of the plugin if you have any doubt.

Kind Regards,

Ash
