I was approached by a person in a Discord (DC) server who offered me a job. After that, I was contacted on Telegram by someone claiming to represent Atlassian, saying they had 300,000 customers.
They asked for my personal details and gave me a rewriting project, promising $2,500 in payment. I completed the project and submitted it. Once I sent the work, the person disappeared and has not responded since yesterday.
There was no contract, no payment in advance, and now I believe I was scammed.
Hi, @Rip_readhead2041
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Thank you for sharing your experience — I'm really sorry to hear that this happened to you. It sounds like you put a lot of trust and effort into what you believed was a legitimate opportunity, and it’s incredibly frustrating and disheartening when that trust is taken advantage of.
Unfortunately, situations like this are all too common online, especially when there’s no formal contract or upfront payment involved. The red flags — being approached unsolicited, asked for personal information, and promised payment with no verification — are typical tactics used by scammers.
While it’s difficult not to feel discouraged after something like this, please know that you're not alone, and speaking up is an important step. Consider reporting the incident to relevant platforms (like Discord, Telegram, and even Atlassian’s support) to help prevent others from falling victim to the same scam.
You did the right thing by raising awareness, and I hope this experience doesn’t discourage you from pursuing future opportunities. Stay vigilant, and always trust your instincts when something feels off.
Take care.
thanks a lot

Welcome @Rip_readhead2041
Atlassian never offers jobs through Telegram. That is a scam. Block their profile and report them.
