I am involved in this problem once again and I would like to know if there is a solution or workaround to help me to append people to existing request participants using an automation.

Two ways:
1. If copying from a field, ensure this checkbox is selected:
2. If setting the field, use the smart value of the request participants field plus a smart value for the new request participants you want to add:

there is an issue regarding to this solution. Take a look at:
This mean:
The item was edited, but some of the specified fields are not available. Ignored fields: requestParticipants
The requestParticipants is on the Edit and Create screen.
And so I do not have the expected result.
Do you know what could be wrong?

I am assuming it is on the layout as well? I would reach out to Atlassian support. It's possible there was an incident at the time it ran maybe.
