Delete group from admin console

Hi there !

I am trying to clean old groups, that are not necessary anymore.

I just read that this should happen in the admin console (https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/create-and-update-groups/).

I am a admin, but don't see the group management under the directory ?

Does anyone have a clue ?  Thanks so much !

So this one is a bit misleading, let me see if I can help straighten this out.

First thing to note is there are 2 different kinds of groups each with their own delete mechanisms:

  • Synced from your IDP
  • Local Site groups

If you are trying to get Synced groups deleted, you have to go to:

  1. Security (Top Nav)
  2. Identity Providers
  3. Click your IDP in the list
  4. Then Click the "View Groups" and Delete from here

If you are trying to delete Local Site Groups go to:

  1. Products (Top Nav)
  2. Select your Site in the Side nav
  3. Under the User Management Heading in the new Side nav, select groups
  4. Select the group you want to delete, and then a Delete option will show up
(Note: any groups with a Locked icon are synced and cannot be deleted from here)

People often get these different views mixed up because there is a difference in Organization Administration and Site Administration each with their own purposes, but they all look very similar.

Hope this helps

Kris
