Hello,

I've created a new portal form for users to complete.

Once complaint we have had is the date time field, is when setting the time it shows the AM and PM options not the 24 hour times.

Is there a way this can be fixed? I've checked forums everywhere and I cannot find an answer.

After speaking to Atlassian support I found the answer

Since you have already followed the steps here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/change-the-time-format-to-24-hours-in-jira-cloud-1540227449.html and it didn't work Reference:

1. Go to the General Configuration page of your Jira instance :

2. Click on Advance Settings

3. Check and / or adjust the format for the date and and time pickers below and replace the current value with the values below, where applicable, and click

Update : jira.date.picker.javascript.format=%e/%b/%y

jira.date.time.picker.javascript.format=%e/%b/%y %H:%M jira.date.time.picker.java.format=dd/MMM/yy HH:mm

jira.date.picker.java.format=dd/MMM/yy

This worked a dream for anyone who wants to do this.

Hi @Mihir Ruparelia  Thanks for sharing this, and my short answer is that there isn’t a per-field toggle for 12h/24h in JSM Forms. The time picker follows the user’s language/locale. If the portal (or the user) is set to a 12-hour locale (e.g., English – United States), you’ll see AM/PM. Switch to a 24-hour locale (e.g., English – United Kingdom, German, French, etc.) and the picker becomes 24-hour.

What i believe you can do right now either of the following options:

OptionA: Let customers choose 24h themselves

  • In the Help Center, users can change Language (top-right avatar → Profile).

  • Pick a 24-hour language (e.g., English (UK)). The time control immediately switches to 24h.

Screenshot 2025-11-27 at 14.20.55.png

OptionB: Make the portal default to 24h

  • As a project/site admin, enable multiple languages and set a 24-hour language as default for the Help Center (.i.e. Space/Project settings >> Channels >> Languages).

  • If you want everyone on 24h, you can restrict available languages to only 24-hour locales.

Bottom line: you’re not missing a hidden setting the picker format is driven by location. Switching the portal/user language should be the clean fix.

I hope this can be of help.

Hello @Mihir Ruparelia

No, only place this can be changed is for the SLAs.Alternatively, you can change the hour format but this will apply on WHOLE Jira: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/change-the-time-format-to-24-hours-in-jira-cloud-1540227449.html

Hi @Mihir Ruparelia

Can you send us a screenshot of the field you mentioned? to check where the date is shown, and whether it is a custom field?

Regards - Aaron
