Custom Board Notification?

Our primary "gatekeeper" is on holiday...so that I don not have to remember to check the board every hour, can I set up a temporary notification to receive an email for all new tickets coming into a specific board?  And, of course, turn it off later.

Depending on a single person and email notifications for managing service does not sound like a very healthy setup to me, to be honest. Maybe you are getting so little requests that it does make sense, but otherwise encouraging people to use the boards / dashboards / service desk queues more actively would eliminate part of the problem automatically.

Having said that, Jira also has a built-in feature called Filter subscriptions. Suppose issues on the board enter in the Jira project HelpMe with status New, you could create a filter like this:

Project = HelpMe AND status = New AND created >= startOfDay()

It would only list issues created today and that are still in status New. You could set up a subscription as explained in this blog post to an individual or even the group of people responsible for tracking issues. If there's no issues, the email will not be sent.

As another alternative, if you have tv screens around the office, you could even set up a Jira Dashboard to display the list of tickets using that same selection and display this as a wallboard in the office.

I would recommend an automation rule for this. I don't know what you mean by board in the context of JSM so I can give you a specific solution. But it would look like this....

in project(s)

trigger - issue created

condition - whatever conditions define what you mean by "board" and define the issues you need to be notified on

action - send email and I would include something like this in the body Issue {{issue.key}} was just created

First, yes, volume is low and this would be a big time-saver on a temp. basis.  I appreciate the quick response and will give both suggestions a try -- Thank you!
