Cannot add custom Object Class or use Saved Search in Assets dashboard (Cloud)

田中優貴 November 6, 2025

Body:
I am using Jira Service Management Cloud and trying to create an Assets dashboard with charts and metrics.
However, I am facing two issues:

  1. The Object Class dropdown only shows fixed values like Compute, Network, People, Peripherals, Software.

    • Is it possible to create custom Object Classes or link them to my own schema?
    • Or is this dropdown just for categorization and not related to actual data?
  2. The Saved Search dropdown shows "No items found".

    • I have objects in my schema, but nothing appears here.
    • Do I need to create and save searches first using AQL?
    • Are there any prerequisites for Saved Searches to show up in dashboards?

My goal is to create metrics such as:

  • Number of assets by department
  • スクリーンショット 2025-11-07 163255.pngStatus distribution
  • Lifecycle trends

Any guidance or best practices for building metric-based dashboards in JSM Cloud would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @田中優貴

You are in data manager.

To create a dashboard of data ingested into data manager, you will first need to get data into data manager.

This tool can help ingest information from multiple sources, clean it and then import it into assets.

This is not Assets tool itself, so you can't report on assets in a schema

If I don’t use Data Manager, does that mean I cannot handle two-dimensional data like X and Y axes?
If it is possible to handle such data without using Data Manager, I would appreciate it if you could let me know how.

Hi @田中優貴

No you can't do this in Assets.

Also Data Manager is not a part of assets, its a separate tool to ingest information, from various sources that you can manipulate before importing it in to Assets.

The reporting part in Data Manager is over the data that is in Data Manager, not the data in assets

For Asset reporting, see; understand-your-assets-data-with-reports
