I have recently joined a new company and we do not have integrated approvals flow within Jira. My previous company did, and I recall managing and making edits to it. I'm not seeing the exact same behavior now at this new company, and I'm not sure if it's related to me not touching Jira for a year or if we have something set up incorrectly.
I'm trying to setup a test workflow before getting it configured properly in our real project.
What I've done is created a workflow, added the approval step to only require 1 from the source which is the Jira Custom Field 'Approvers'. I've then set an automation rule to add users to the approvers. I would figure this would kick off the Approve or Deny button, but it doesn't seem to be doing that?
I feel like I'm missing something obvious but I can't seem to figure this out. Any ideas? Thanks!

Not sure what happened, surely user error. I republished the same workflow and it worked :)
Random question but you don't have "Exclude approvers from: Reporter" switched on and you are testing your own ticket? It would be on the next page of your first image.
