We are evaluating the Jira Cloud Service desk and one of the key elements we need is to be able to have a change request which requires approvals to be completed via email. Change is logged in Jira, a status change to Approval Pending then triggers email to approvers, approvers reply to email to approve or decline the change request by typing Approve or Deny, the response is parsed and based on the response transition would move to either status of Approved or Canceled. Is this possible?
thanks
dean
Hi @Dean Malthouse - You already probably noted that what you are looking for is available in JSD Server 3.12 and after, as detailed here. 'Approve' and 'Decline' buttons are available in email for approvers to take action.
There is an open ticket here with Atlassian requesting this to be made available in the cloud. There is a discussion in the comments section of this ticket that talks about workarounds, if interested.
Hope this helps!
Thank for the reply. Since we are in the evaluation period for the product I have a hard time spending most of it trying to get this basic functionality working via a work around. This is one of my CIO's most wanted features that is in our current 10 year old product. It is difficult to get our C level executives to log in to the UI to do this function. I will spend some time with the work around, but this might just be a deal breaker for the product evaluation.
