When requests are submitted through our service portal, this creates a ticket to our service management project. The production support resource, reviews ticket and creates linked ticket to the responsible project. If linking reason is child of, I want to automate when the project linked ticket is done, update the service manage project ticket to done. Perhaps "parent" in this scenario solely relates to what was previously known as epic.
You are correct the parent / child relationship is different than the linking type of "is child of" using "issue links". Instead the branch on linked issues with the correct type / direction is needed.
Also, as this rule will impact issues in multiple projects (or perhaps even globally) the scope will need to be changed by your Jira Site Admin in the global automation configurations.
