Automation not prompting validation message

Hello everyone,

 I have a workflow transition triggered by an automation that changes status from Received to In Progress on a public comment. Manually triggering the transition properly prompts a warning message but not when Automation triggers it. Is there any way of making it work?

This is the warning message when I manually try to trigger 'Start Work'

The automation set up works as expected except I want to prompt some sort of warning as it's suppressed to service desk users.
