Automation around suppressing alerts

adam_cantin

I have a team that receives alerts for a certain situation and they would like to have them suppressed during a time period. Example is they use multiple monitoring tools so lets say they are using Azure or Uptime Kuma. What is the best way to set this up? They have a service request come in about a week before it is needed so they are also looking for the best way to be reminded to suppress the alerts and then can they have automation perform this task on the day it is needed and turn off when the time has ended? Thank you for any support.

HI @adam_cantin

As a workaround, you could configure alert routing rules to be have differently inside/outside business hours.

The Alerts are still created, but the routing rules can route the alerts to a different team, are sent to a low-priority queue or are suppressed from notifying anyone.

Outside business hours, you can use JSM Operations automation rules to auto-acknowledge and/or auto-close alerts:

WHEN alert is created
IF current time is outside service hours
THEN
- Set priority = Low
- OR auto-close alert
- OR add note "Outside service hours – deferred"

Thank you for your response, but I am looking to have them suppressed during the period the person is out of the country.
