Sorry if this has already been asked before but is there a way to automate adding customers to a Project? I saw similar posts but most of them differed in some way.
I'm standing up a new Service Desk for my company that will be integrated with Halp and I don't want to manually go in and add each employee (If I have to, so be it) so I wanted to see if there's a way to automate this process. I can provide as much info as possible, I'm just not sure what info would be needed from me to answer this.
Thank you in advance,
Hi Chris, welcome to the Community and JSM. So i'm not sure exactly what you have in mind around automating the process. You can elect to set up the project so that anyone in your domain will get added when they send an email. All of this is done within the Project's Customer Permissions with the exception of domain control which is a global permission think. Here is an article to get you started - change-project-customer-permissions
Finally, if you want more control you can set the new customer to be restricted to those your Agents add and initially you can gather a CSV of all employees and simply paste into the Add customer window.
Hi, thank you for your response and your welcome.
My main goal here is to not have to come in to the Project Settings and manually add every new hire to the Service Desk project in the future. The reason I mentioned Halp is that we're starting to use Slack to create more and more of our tickets. In the setup, I mapped a field from Halp to Jira called "Requested on Behalf Of" that searches for a user in Slack and searches for that same user on Jira's side. The purpose of that being that if that user can't submit a ticket on their own, someone can do it for them, and we on the Service Desk will see who the ticket is actually for. However, for this to work, that user in Slack needs to be listed as a customer in Jira - otherwise the field turns up empty on Jira's side.
I was just wondering if this process could be automated somehow or if it would need to be manually adding each user into the project as a customer.
