Hi all.
I've been searching around and I can't find what I am looking for. Basically, I would like to have the custom field that is linked to an insight object auto-populated based on the reporter.
Reporter = Michael Gaskin
Insight Custom Field Object in Jira would then be auto-populated with Michael Gaskin.
I've looked at automation and some post functions, but I think I'm missing something.
Hi Michael.
Isn't this what you are looking for? https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/auto-populate-the-assets-object-field-based-on-the-reporter-field-of-the-ticket-1116298907.html
I tried this on my test instance and it worked like a charm. This was my rule:
And this is how I configured my Employees object type:

Would be great if you accepted my answer if you get it to work, which it should :)

I can't seem to get to the text box that allows me to put in the syntax and then validate. Its only allowing me to select specific fields. Still reviewing.

Do you have full permission to the scheme you are getting the objects from?
I didn't have to do anything, the search text box came up as default for me.

And did you select the field you are going to set? And that's definitely of the the type "Asset objects"?

I do. In fact, if I type something it will pull information from the Insight database. I just can't find how to use AQL (like you did) as its only allows me to select the information (values) within the database.

Are you on Cloud or Server/DC? I'm using Cloud

For sure... The field that's in the insight database is called Reporter Details. That field is what I selected in the CHOOSE FIELDS TO SET drop down above.

Could be that you need to things differently when on DC. I'm sorry that I can't help you with DC.

Still marked as accepted because I am sure someone with cloud will get the benefit out of the time you took to help. Greatly appreciated.
