We have so many request types that need approval, that the default template, appears, to be of no good.
There is not enough information for an approver to be able approve or reject. Is there any to add either fields from the form, or from the issue request? I had a look at the variable drop down and it is limited.
I know people will say, approvers will need to click View request and go into to it to see more, but that is such a backward step for our business, it won't gone down well.

Unfortunately, you can't add custom fields to the template. However, you could try updating the Description field to have a concatenation of the custom fields you want to send. That way the approver can see the information.
