My automation rule uses the "When form is submitted" trigger to send an email with some form data in it.
I would like to pass along the issue key the form was attached to. The audit logs allows me to see the issue the form was attached to; how can I query this information via smart values? Will a simple {{issue.key}} do it?

Yes, {{issue.key}} will return the issue key 😊 I gave it a quick test
(Keep in mind issue keys are turned into smart links when that configuration is active)
