Hi,

I am looking for a way to make Jira send automatic email that includes the attached files in the email. Does jira provide such option or a workaround?

Hello @Vera Valshonok ,

Natively, you can't add attachments to your emails. However, you can include links to download those files, provided they've been previously uploaded somewhere like your OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.

Alternatively, handling attachments will require a third-party app from the marketplace, such as JEMH or Email This Issue.

Hi @Vera Valshonok

As our friends mentioned, Jira will not send attachments out of the box.

For this case, I believe that our app Notification Assistant for Jira could serve as a possible workaround.

It allows you to add the attachments directly in the email, bypassing the need to log in Jira to download it.

This is an example:

Feel free to reach if you'd like to see more of our app.

Jira doesn’t send attachments as part of notification emails out of the box. You’ll just get a link to the file in the email, not the actual file attached.

If you really need the files included, the only options I know are using third-party add-ons like Automation for Jira with some clever scripting, or external apps from the Marketplace (like JEMH or Email This Issue). Those can pull in the file and attach it to outgoing emails, but setup can get a bit fiddly.

Personally, I just tell folks to grab the file from the Jira link, which keeps the emails lighter, and you avoid email size limits. But yeah, if you absolutely need it, third-party is the way.
